Deaconess Ministry

Vision Statement: To be a Servant for the Kingdom of God

Mission Statement: The mission of the Deaconess Board is to minister to the spiritual, emotional and social needs of women and girls in our church and community, and to devote our services as co-laborers with God, the Pastor, and Deacons to help foster peace, love and Christian unity in the membership by witness and deportment.

Purpose:

* Committed and supportive of the Pastor's Vision and Church Ministries

* Assist in training and preparing candidates for baptism

* Follow-up after baptism and assist with new members

* Assist the Deacons with Communion

* Visit the sick and shut-in

* Comfort the bereaved

* Evangelize within outreach ministries

* Serve when and where needed

Need:

Mt. Calvary Baptist Church has a need for a supporting ministry composed of Deacon's wives,  Minister wives as well as chosen Christian women to be of assistance to the Pastor and Deacons in meeting the spiritual needs of the congregation; assisting with the Lord's Supper, Baptism, and with the church membership/family ministry.

Additionally, they will provide service whenever necessary to continue the work of building God's kingdom concentrating especially upon the need of the women in the church, when deemed inappropriate for males to address such needs. These women are to be women of "Great Faith." The qualifications, similar to that of the Deacons, shall be as stated in the following scripture:

Acts 6:3 - Wherefore brethren, look ye out among you seven men of honest report, full of the Holy Ghost and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business.

I Timothy 3:11 - Even so must their wives be grave, not slanderers, sober, faithful in all things.

There is a need for a visible body of women whom others may seek advice of private and confidential issues who they can trust with spiritual concerns, questions and other related matters and this body shall be called the Deaconess Ministry.

Six "C's" to being an effective Deaconess

Chosen, Christ-Like, Consecrated, Chaste, Charming, Charitable

Deaconess of Mt. Calvary Baptist church are required to be, and maintain the Six "C's". The Deaconess are to assist the Deacons in whatever capacity deemed necessary. They assist in Intake interviewing for re-instatements, letters or Christian experienced, candidates (especially the ladies) when expressing a desire to become a member of the Mt. Calvary Baptist Church family. Deaconess assist the female candidates during New Members training, during baptism and prepare and clean up the communion table and chairs. Deaconess visit the sick at home, the hospitals, convalescent homes; bereaved families, and those behind the prison walls. Deaconess advise, help and encourage the young ladies in all walks of life as they strive to walk in a Christian manner.
